Project Scope

Bulk Earthworks and Pavement Construction

Project Summary

Australasian Construction was contracted by Ahrens to complete a civil scope of works, consisting of bulk earthworks and pavements to allow for warehouse erection and surrounding roadways.

Construction occurred on site adjacent to existing Portavin Wines infrastructure in Ottoway South Australia.

The project scope consisted of bulk earthworks and pavements, inclusive of fill under Level 1 Supervision and pavement rubble. Australasian Construction utilised specialised plant to meet the client’s requirements where the sub-grade and pavement layers were trimmed to varying design RLs and to within +/-10mm tolerance.

Construction Summary

  • Cut to Fill of sub-grade to design RLs.

  • Amend site won material for reuse, inclusive of removal of oversized and unsuitable material (with use of in-house specialised plant i.e. mobile re claimer).

  • De-watering to counter groundwater and rainfall.

  • Install of geofabric and geogrid to engineer designed sub-grade remediation standard.

  • Supply and place of ballast material to engineer designed sub-grade remediation standard.

  • Compaction of all layers achieved with use of 12-ton pad foot or smooth drum vibrating roller.

  • Sub-grade final trim by specialised plant with inbuilt GPS and laser capable positioning systems.

Pavements

  • Place, compact and final trim of pavement rubble across site to design RLs.

  • Trimming to appropriate levels to accommodate for asphalt, heavy duty asphalt, concrete and building pad across site.

  • Final Trimming and shaping to allow for design features such as a spoon drain to within +/-20mm tolerance.

  • Trimming monitored with on-board and mobile GPS and laser capable positioning systems.
